The Threat Posed by Religion and Puppets

Recently in the Village of South Orange, New Jersey, Care and Share, a Christian ministry, attempted to obtain the right to use a public square for entertainment purposes. They intended to put on a show which included music, skits and puppet shows for children. Village officials denied the request under the pretext of allowing only non-religious groups to use the public square. In the words of the city administrator's office: "Please be assured that the Village will not be approving any events sponsored by religious organizations."

The village managed however to subsequently allow a group known as the "Road Devils NJ" to use the public square for an event that included alcoholic consumption. Puppets out; alcohol in and all in the name of a faulty understanding of the constitution.

An organization known as the Alliance Defense Fund has helped file a lawsuit in federal court in Newark, New Jersey. It is intended to assist the Christian ministry denied a right afforded to others in South Orange.

When You Want to Come to the USA to be Student

Sometimes the websites of law offices can be informative. This one features information about visas available for those interested in studying in the United States. Non-immigrant visas are designated by alphabet letters. F and M are reserved for students. F visas are granted to students who wish to study in high schools, colleges and universities. Other schools can be attended as well with an F visa.

If a student wishes to pursue vocational courses an M visa is better suited. One of the differences between the two visa types is employment opportunities allowed. It is possible to work under limited conditions with an F visa. However, as the linked site confirms, employment is prohibited for M visa holders except for practical training employment following completion of studies.
